The weekend is here! Whohoo!! I’ve been fighting a cold/virus/annoying cough all week, and the weather has been slightly dreary to go along with how I feel. That being said, I’m hoping a few days of rest will be just the prescription needed to finally beat whatever this yuck is!! We are celebrating our sweet puppy’s one year birthday on Sunday, and I may or may not have bought this and this and this already to celebrate 😉
Below I’m sharing the things in life (besides cough drops and tissues) and links that made my everyday extraordinary this week. Have a wonderful weekend!
Life Lately
Sunset Walks with D. We’ve been trying to get Dallas two walks a day to help with his energy levels. The second walk always seem to fall right around sunset, and I think the walk has benefited me just as much as him.
Celebrating a milestone birthday for my dad. Although he doesn’t like the attention at all, I can’t not mention how thankful I am we were able to celebrate my dad’s birthday this week! Since it was a milestone birthday, his co-workers planned surprises for him throughout the day including decorating his office with pictures from each decade of his life and holding a special lunch. We pre-celebrated with him in Hawaii since we are scattered all over. I’m so thankful for my dad and the influence he has had and currently has on my life!!
More “white space” to admire the clouds. Another walk picture, since most of my week was spent working, doing school, and coughing (haha) — but this photo is a reminder to me of how much I’m enjoying time away from social media and other distractions to be able to notice things like this — the clouds layered on top of each other, yet somehow fitting together beautifully.
Dallas the Dog Picture of the Week
Two pictures of the birthday boy — the first being his “I promise I didn’t do anything bad…” face, and the second — well being his usual goofy self. 🙂 Even with all the frustrations that come with having a puppy, we are thankful for this sweet silly boy who makes us laugh regularly!
Links Lately
If you need a smile this weekend, please watch this trailer! I’m excited to see this one when it comes out — it looks so sweet 🙂 Has anyone seen any good movies lately? We saw LaLa Land last weekend (I have mixed feelings) and my parents recommended Hidden Figures as the next one for us to see.
“I’ve made three changes that help create space for me to notice—and even sink into—peace and calm, right in the midst of the storm.” Loved these suggestions by Deidra Riggs — Three Things I’m Doing to Keep Life Calm
“He knows my way. He knows what He wants to do in me and through me in each new place. He knows the path that leads to grace and rest. I have only to ask and obey. Whenever my life shifts, this truth calls me to slow down and humbly, contemplatively, listen for His voice guiding me to paths of life. Stand, look, ask, walk.” Gina Butz’s words for (in)courage — Stand at the Crossroads — brought peace to my soul
After moving once and reading Marie Kondo’s book as well as implementing her methods, I’m hyper aware of how much stuff we easily accumulate — therefore I enjoyed Gina’s post over at the Fitnessista about Unintentional Minimalism and how much it made a difference in her life
Yummy Link of the Week
I’m making these for a small group gathering this weekend (they are amazing!!) and this banana bread with espresso glaze is on my list to try next!

Why the mixed feelings on La La Land? I loved it! Probably more than my wife did…

Hi Scott — I liked it a lot — but…the mixed feelings came at the end…call me a romantic, but I don’t like realism in movies 🙂 haha
It was a fun movie to watch though as I do love musicals and the cast was great!!
