So I realize it is Saturday — but hey — better late than never, right?? It’s been a busy week around here, showing my college roomie all around our new state — we had a wonderful time and it was so good to have her! Friendships that last over many years are such a blessing!
Here are some things in life and in links that made my everyday extraordinary this week!
Life Lately
Port City Club Dinner. We had my friend’s first dinner in NC on Lake Norman at the Port City Club. It was a beautiful setting, yummy food, and wonderful company!
Cincinnati comes to North Carolina. For those of you who do not live in Ohio or Kentucky — Graeter’s is a famous ice cream shop there. The Graeter’s truck (they are on tour! if they are coming near you — highly recommend 🙂 ) came to NC this past week so we took advantage of a little taste of Cincy!
Biltmore in the Spring. We went to the Biltmore this week on a gorgeous spring day and it did not disappoint!!
Liquid Truffle at French Broad Chocolate Lounge in Asheville, NC. This was AMAZING. If you are in Asheville, this is a must.
Birthday Cake and Celebration. The week culminated in our visitor’s birthday — it was a fun day that ended with cake! So thankful for her, her friendship, and for her taking the time to come visit!!
Dallas the Dog Pic of the Week
You know, fourteen weeks and just practicing his driving skills at Sonic 😉
Links Lately
12 Things a Highly Sensitive Person Needs — yes. yes. yes. I haven’t read Elaine Aron’s book on this topic yet, but I’m 99.9% sure I would fall in the HSP category. Loved this article!
“So, when you come over for a spot of tea or for a morning of conversation, know that my house is going to be a little bit messy. But also know that somehow, somewhere along the way, all this messiness is going to lead to solidarity between you and me.” As I (still recovering) perfectionist — it is so hard for me to welcome people into all my messes, both in my home and in my heart. This article – A Thread of Messy – resonated with me.
“Friends when we are tempted to start a sentence to anyone walking through a different and hard season with the words ‘At least…’ remember the God we serve only and ever gives the best in every season. He is not doing the least of anything in your life.” What a great post on not comparing seasons of life: At Least You’re Married or Single.
Christie’s brother-in-law was lost in a military accident this past January and her and her family’s faith through their grief is beyond inspiring to watch — “My prayer has been answered, but the answer to my prayer is loss.” She has written beautiful words throughout the tragedy, but this latest post: In This End is Our Beginning was especially touching.
Yummy Link of the Week: A chocolate chip cookie layer cake??! Need I say anything else??
