Oh, Friday, we are so glad you’re here! How was everyone’s week? I hope you’ve had a great one! We are halfway through January already, and I think the last half will go just as quickly!!
One of my best friends in the whole wide world is coming to visit us this weekend! To say I’m excited is definitely an understatement!! She’s only here for a few days, but we are going absolutely make the most of the precious time we have!
As always on Fridays, below are favorites from both my life and the internet that made my everyday life a little more extraordinary this week. I would love to hear some of yours!!
Life Lately
Beauty in the Barrenness. I posted this picture on my Instagram this past weekend. It had rained for two days prior, and even though the trees are bare, I found the beauty in the sunshine and the blue skies after the rain. It’s the simple things that make life extraordinary!
Jewelry Holder — I’ve been in need of a new one of these since August! I procrastinated on finding one because I had a specific idea of what I wanted. Finally, the disorganization of my jewelry drove me to just order something. I’m so glad I did, and you can’t beat the price of this one on Amazon — $7.99! My favorite part is being able to hang my necklaces on one side using the velco straps.
Christmas Cards, post Christmas. I think, if you use shiny silver *winter* themed wrapping paper, it is perfectly acceptable to keep up your cards past January if they bring you as much joy as mine do for me! 🙂
Gluten Free Graham Cracker Crust. This may not seem that extraordinary to you, but for us who must eat gluten free — it’s pretty awesome to find a pre-made crust!! This is going to be the base of a delicious “Welcome to NC” chocolate pie for my best friend when she comes this weekend.
Sunshine. I am going to save this picture for this weekend when the low one night is predicted to be 18 degrees!! I think we have been spared from true NC winter temperatures so far this year, but snow is apparently coming soon…we shall see.
First Date Night of 2016. This week we had date night – a delicious (gluten free!) dinner at Five Points and a beautiful symphony – Rachmanioff’s Third.
Links Lately
I don’t think any of us needs a reason to like Chick-fil-A more — but this article may just increase your appreciation for the favorite fast food restaurant –Mommy Valet?? Now that’s a good idea!
Joey and Rory are a husband and wife country music duo — Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer that has become terminal. Her husband, Rory, has been documenting their journey on his blog. His beautifully touching post this week about saying good-bye will bring you to tears.
In the day and age where “going viral” is so celebrated — Relevant’s “The Surprisingly Depressing Experience of Going Viral” was an interesting read, the main point of which is something we all can relate to – the desire to truly be known for who we really are.
Those who eat gluten-free for medical reasons, rejoice! A gluten-detecting device is finally going to be available to test restaurant food for possible gluten before eating it. It’s not cheap by any stretch, but neither are the medical bills for the complications of celiac disease…definitely worth looking into.
Yummy Link of the Week: These customizable egg muffins from the Peanut Butter Fingers blog have been on my to make list since the post was published! I think these would be a great protein-packed, delicious breakfast option.
