It’s Friday! Goodness – the weeks go by so quickly I think as the holidays approach. I never remember thinking that February goes as quickly as November and December do! This past week has been rainy and dreary here in North Carolina – the weather has a brisk feel to it, and I think winter is just around the courner.
We don’t have any concrete weekend plans yet, but we plan to welcome family to our home a week from Sunday so last minute preparations for that will be on the agenda for sure. Hopefully some sunshine and a bike ride will make it on the list as well.
How was your week? Would love to hear about some of your favorites in the comments! Here’s some of my favorites from the week.

Inside Out. I saw this movie this past summer with my sister before our move; however, I really wanted my husband to see it too. We finally rented it last weekend; and if you haven’t seen it, I recommend it!! It has to be one of the most creative movies I have ever seen – just so very clever!
Christmas cards. Those, my friends, are our Christmas cards. Addressed, stuffed, awaiting stamps and sealing before they are completely ready to go. I definitely did not order them in October. 😉 Yes – I’m weird like that. But for as long as I can remember, I have loved Christmas cards. I helped my mom with our family’s for years, and I would fight my sisters to get the mail everyday in December to be able to open the cards first 🙂 (I have issues, yes, haha) Not sure why I enjoy them so much, but I do love stories, relationships, and getting mail so I really look forward to catching up with friends’ via the “old fashioned” way of postal mail at Christmas time.
(P.S To those of you who want to “Honor the Turkey” or keep Thanksgiving afloat amidst the Christmas deludge (that starts in June now at Hobby Lobby, but I digress…), please don’t fret, I won’t be actually sending these cards until December 1st 🙂 )
The View from my Screen Porch. I’m sure y’all are getting tired of the fall pictures — if so, don’t worry, the leaves are almost all gone –but I couldn’t resist snapping this picture of my view while catching some (very rare lately but much needed) sunshine this week. If we ever move again, somehow, someway, I’m taking our North Carolina screened porch with us!!
Articles I Have Enjoyed:
As most of you know (or now you do), we recently moved across the country. Maybe that’s why this well written reflection on moving, finding your place, and the growing that takes place during the in between really resonated.
An awesome piece of encouraging advice to use the gifts you’ve been given no matter the size of your platform from the always inspiring Jennie Allen.
Ever heard of the book The Power of Habit? It’s on my to-read list, but this informative essay on the potential influence of ritual in our daily lives is definitely worth reading, and I would venture to guess has many similarities to the book.
Social media is always on our minds these days – I posted about my summer social media fast yesterday – and this insightful post zooms out on Instagram photos to show #RealLife versus #PhotoshopLife. Very interesting…
Yummy Link of the Week: This is my go to dinner recipe. I’ve made it so many times, and it has not yet failed me 🙂 I substitute ground turkey and gluten free Bisquick, but otherwise leave it as is. Delicious and easy = my kind of dinner.
