Well. All I can say about this week is thank goodness it’s Friday!!! It’s been a rough one over here, but the light at the end of the tunnel is almost here! A date night tonight and hopefully good weather on Saturday should make going back to work on Sunday (almost) bearable.
Despite the stressfulness of the week, there were a few things that made my everyday extraordinary. I would love to hear yours in the comments!
Life Lately
Blue Skies and Sunshine. We’ve had some beautiful weather this week which makes walks with Dallas extra lovely.
Fun Memories. Despite how much I dislike how Facebook is now set up with what posts it shows, I do enjoy seeing memories from years past! This was my husband and I while we were dating, kayaking on White Rock Lake in Dallas. Such a great memory — it definitely seems like a lot longer than three years ago though…so much has happened since then!
Gluten Free Chick-fil-A Buns?? I saw this poster online and couldn’t find many more details except that they are testing it out at a few of their stores. Fingers crossed it becomes a standard! I mean, I didn’t need any more reasons to love Chick-fil-A, but this would be amazing!
Retail Therapy. Sometimes it’s just nice to browse, hands in pockets, and dream about home decor ideas at one of my favorite stores. I didn’t buy anything, but it made me smile.
Dallas the Dog Pic of the Week:
You, know, just cruising around town to Starbucks on Saturday! 🙂 We are attempting to get him to love riding in the car…I wouldn’t say we have been successful yet, but it’s definitely improved since we started trying. This was right before he received his first “puppy Starbucks” – picture over on my Instagram.
Links Lately
“No one likes to be rejected, to take a chance, to put in huge effort only to be rebuffed. But if you want to succeed at anything in life, you have to put yourself forward. You have to take the chance that you’ll be rejected.” Great article about how rejection doesn’t mean the end of a dream, it means you tried…and you should keep trying.
“Extensive scientific research reveals that exposure to and consumption of porn threaten the social, emotional and physical health of individuals, families and communities, and highlights the degree to which porn is a public health crisis rather than a private matter.” Not an easy subject to talk about, but one that demands discussion — this Washington Post article written by a professor of sociology in Boston argues that the debate goes much deeper than pure immorality, instead stating that porn is a public health crisis.
“ ‘In the Kingdom of God, success and significance are often opposed to each other.’ …success as the things the world notices…Significance, on the other hand, is true kingdom impact. And it’s often found in the most surprising places.” This article on how we define failure reminded me of the post I wrote just a few weeks ago on True Impact.
“You lift me up, you’ll never leave me thirsty,
When I am weak, when I am lost and searching
I’ll find you on my knees.”
I’ve had this song replaying in my head this week — so beautiful…and encouraging.
Yummy Link of the Week: So this link seems to always be sweets/desserts, but you know — that’s just where I’m at right now — craving desserts. All.day.long. 🙂 These chocolate stuffed oatmeal bars‘ ingredient list looks too simple to be true; but I’m willing to take the chance! Plus, they have oatmeal in them…which totally makes them healthy, right??!
